 Sommerer/Mignonneau

The works of Christa Sommerer and Laurent Mignonneau explore the relationship between art, science and technology. They develop simulations of Artificial Life and creative environments for interaction and participation. The confrontation of real and virtual systems requires conscious interaction and exemplifies the interdependence and cooperation of both models. Both live and work in Kyoto (J).

Sommerer: geb. 1964 in Ohlsdorf/Gmunden (A); 1982-85 studies in Biology and Botany, University of Vienna; 1985-90 studies Sculpture, Academy of Fine Arts, Vienna; 1991-93 postgraduate studies at the Städelschule, Institut für Neue Medien, Frankfurt/Main (with Peter Weibel).

Mignonneau: 1984-88 studies of Applied Arts, Ecole Technique, Angoulême (National Diplom, DNAP); 1988-91 studies at the Academy of Fine Arts (National Diplom, DNESP) and at the Centre National de la Bande Dessinée et de l'Image (CNBDI), Angoulême (Video und Computergrafik)
1991-93 postgraduate studies at the Städelschule, Institut für Neue Medien, Frankfurt/Main (with Peter Weibel).
