Volker Schreiner's structuralist studies into the materiality of the electronic image and the immateriality of traditional materials have since the late 1980s developed into a kind of basic research embodied in a group of works. Musical and rhythmic in their editing, and constantly surprising for the complexity of their subjects, the videotapes flash with lightning strokes of irony.
