«Sinken»

The 1999 work »Sinken« (Descend) is based on the video recording of a 1995 performance by Michael Ashcroft. It consists of a 22-minute-long composition for string orchestra and an audiovisual stream of images in slow motion. The slowness of the images corresponds with the musical descent of the string instruments. »Sinken« is a commissioned work of the Lille National Orchestra and Art Zoyd for the »Dangerous Visions« Festival, performed so far in Mexico City at the Palacio de Bellas Artes with the National Orchestra of Mexico, as well as at the Donau Festival in St. Poelten with the Sound Artists Orchestra of Lower Austria.
